Overview
Safety and Security Officer Non-Armed- R role at OhioHealth. Provides security and safety services in all areas of the hospital, hospital properties, and the hospital's off-campus sites as assigned. Creates and maintains a safe, secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff through the use of equipment and procedures that prevent weapons from entering OhioHealth facilities. Provides guidance, way-finding and other customer services as the initial point of contact for care site visitors.
Responsibilities
- Operates and maintains weapons scanning equipment.
- Enforces OhioHealth facility policies regarding parking regulations, visitation, drug enforcement, tobacco-free / smoking policy, weapons-free zones, and other policies.
- Monitors facility activity on closed-circuit television to detect escalating situations that may require security involvement.
- Intervenes in patient, visitor, and / or staff confrontations as appropriate.
- Completes appropriate documentation of incidents.
- Demonstrates understanding of emergency procedures, alarm response, evacuation, and internal and external disaster plans.
- Works independently to determine the correct response to most situations and initiates actions accordingly.
- Performs any function and / or training as assigned by leadership, with changes to assignments, training levels, and / or general competency levels on an as-needed basis.
- May be assigned a home work location with opportunities to float to other locations based on team availability and need.
- Valid State Driver's License.
- BLS Certification.
- Computer skills, MSDS and safety knowledge; working knowledge of Ohio Revised Code.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be mentally and physically capable of completing training, participating in, and maintaining certifications as applicable for weapons scanning equipment.
- As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality, and efficiency in performing job duties.
Qualifications
Minimum : High School or GED (Required).Specialized Knowledge : BLS Certified; computer skills, MSDS and safety knowledge; excellent written and verbal communication skills; mental and physical capability to complete training and maintain certification to operate weapons scanning equipment.Work Information
