To perform routine and specialized examinations in Ultrasound; adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and / or therapeutic results; prepare patients for examinations. This requires independent judgment to adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic results under the direction of a radiologist.

Qualifications

Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA); Registered in Sonography (S) within 1 year - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Obstetrics and Gynecology (RDMS-OB / GYN) within 1 year - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS); Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Abdomen (RDMS-AB) within 1 year - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), Education : Certificate of Completion : Radiologic Technology; College Diploma : Sonography, Work Experience :

Responsibilities

Clinical Excellence / Patient Care

Performs ultrasound procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures and standards of Medical Imaging to assigned patients of all ages

• Exhibits competency in performing ultrasound procedures
• Images required views demonstrating appropriate anatomy and pathology
• Knowledgeable of catheters, biopsy instruments and sterile trays and prepares these items as necessary
• Obtains accurate histories and explains rationale for procedure to patients / families
• Enhances image quality through the use of appropriate transducers and machine settings
• Evaluates the finished images to ensure diagnostic exams are being submitted to the radiologists
• Maintains quality care throughout the procedure
• Assess the abdominal arterial & venous system using color imaging

Clinical Excellence

Maintains working knowledge of equipment in order to function in all areas of ultrasound.

Relationship Building

Performs support functions of the Medical Imaging department to ensure patient expectations and needs are met and assumes personal responsibility for training fellow technologists / students.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $33.9per hour - $58.31per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
