Employee Onboarding and Engagement Specialist
Overview : The Employee Onboarding and Engagement Specialist is a key member of the Human Resources team, responsible for creating a positive and welcoming experience for all new hires, with a primary focus on our seasonal workforce. This role manages the full onboarding lifecycle, from pre-hire communication to the first day and beyond. The specialist will also play a vital role in developing and implementing employee engagement initiatives that foster a positive work environment, increase employee retention, and celebrate the unique culture of our mountain.
Responsibilities
Pre-Onboarding Communication : Serve as the primary point of contact for new hires. Send welcome emails, provide information about the ski area, and answer questions to ensure they feel prepared for their first day.
New Hire Orientation : Plan, organize, and lead engaging and informative new hire orientation sessions. This includes presenting company policies, safety protocols, department introductions, and an overview of employee perks.Documentation and Compliance : Ensure all new hire paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner, including I-9 forms, W-4s, and other necessary employment documents. Maintain and update employee files in accordance with HR best practices and legal requirements.Systems & Access : Coordinate with IT and departmental managers to ensure new employees have the necessary access to systems, equipment, and uniforms on their first day.Onboarding Follow-Up : Conduct check-ins with new hires and their managers within the first 30-60 days to address any concerns and ensure a smooth transition into their roles.Employee Engagement :Event Planning : Assist with planning and executing a variety of employee events, including holiday parties, appreciation lunches, and end-of-season celebrations.
Recognition Programs : Assist in the development and administration of employee recognition programs, such as "Employee of the Month," years of service awards, or on-the-spot recognition initiatives.Communication : Manage internal communication channels to keep employees informed and engaged. This may include managing internal communications, including email, Teams, and UKG's Team Member Hub.Feedback Collection : Assist in the administration of employee surveys and focus groups to gather feedback on the employee experience and identify areas for improvement.Wellness Initiatives : Help develop and promote wellness programs or activities that support the physical and mental well-being of our staff.Culture Ambassador : Act as a champion for the ski area's culture and values, promoting a positive and inclusive environment where all employees feel valued and respected.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.1-2 years of experience in Human Resources, onboarding, employee engagement, or event planning. Experience in a seasonal or hospitality environment is a plus.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS / applicant tracking systems such as UKG.Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.Creativity and a passion for creating fun and engaging experiences.A proactive and positive attitude with a strong customer service orientation.Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and navigate the ski area grounds. Must be comfortable working in a mountain environment.This role may require flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings, particularly during peak season or for special employee events.What We Offer
