American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Columbus, Ohio. Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 12 / 01 / 2025 Duration : 16 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a busy Med / Surg Tele position on a mixed acuity surgical oncology floor requiring a current OH or compact RN license and strong oncology experience. Responsibilities Work in a hospital-based Med / Surg Tele unit with a focus on surgical oncology Mixed acuity unit caring for both Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Med / Surg patients Adult and geriatric patient populations, including surgical oncology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastic surgery cases Typical nurse-to-patient ratios aim for 1 : 4 but may be up to 1 : 5 Unit performs specialized procedures such as chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and manages oncologic emergencies Utilizes Epic electronic medical record system Night shift (3x12 hours); day / night shift option available Variable weekend scheduling based on unit needs Self-scheduling requests are accepted and balanced prior to final posting First week of orientation is Monday through Friday dayshift, followed by 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor Locals are accepted at the same pay rate Primary responsibilities include caring for complex surgical oncology patients and managing specialized infusions or emergencies Heavy emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention Orientation includes structured classroom and on-unit preceptorship Travelers must comply with all fingerprinting and credentialing requirements without delay All requested time off must be submitted and approved as part of the contract Team consists of PCU-trained permanent staff with strong support for travelers No set or blocked scheduling is offered, consistent with permanent staff policies First time travelers will be considered for this role Requirements Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program is required ONS Chemo certification preferred Two professional references are required, with one from a supervisor, manager, or charge RN Experience with Epic charting is preferred Must be eligible for and able to complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly after offer Former employees eligible only after 6 months away from facility; current employees at any Ohio State University hospital are not eligible Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-622503.
