Job Summary : School psychologists are hired by school systems and responsible for providing support to students who face emotional, social, behavioral and academic challenges. School Psychologists help school children get the counseling services they need to succeed in school and in life.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Work with parents, teachers and school administrators to understand what counseling services would best work for the students to be treated. (possibly a referral)
• Provide counseling services (group or individual) to families and teachers, while connecting them to resources that can help address problems in the classroom and at home.
• Administer tests as a way to identify what is getting in the way of a students learning potential
• Results of the assessment process allow for identification of learning disabilities or ruling out any disabilities, assist in recommending placement, screening, counseling and / or therapeutic techniques for children and parents.
• Reports are written using data from the assessment, teacher interviews and observations. The report is shared as part of the Individualized Education Plan team to determine appropriate school placement.
• Consultation with teachers, school administrators and parents
