Job description
Elevate Communication Across Generations in Kansas City - Become a Speech Language Pathologist with Us

Overview

What if your next professional journey provided you with a chance to give voice to many? As a Speech Language Pathologist in the vibrant heart of Kansas City, your contributions will extend beyond addressing communication and swallowing challenges; you'll be pivotal in unleashing potential, fostering confidence, and building meaningful connections among diverse populations - from young children discovering their first words to elderly adults seeking to regain their independence.

This position offers a remarkable chance to impact individuals at every life stage, nestled within a setting that harmoniously combines outpatient therapy alongside occasional inpatient duties. Whether your interest lies in pediatric speech and language development, navigating adult neurogenic disorders, or supporting geriatric cognitive-linguistic recovery, you'll discover both fulfillment and flexibility in your role here.

Role Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of patients across pediatric, adult, and geriatric demographics using both standardized assessments and observational techniques.
  • Create individualized treatment plans that meet both immediate and comprehensive communication, cognitive, or swallowing objectives.
  • Deliver tailored speech therapy interventions focusing on communication, fluency, voice, and swallowing capabilities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, including occupational and physical therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to develop cohesive care strategies.
  • Provide educational resources and guidance to patients and families, empowering them to support progress outside the therapy sessions.
  • Participate in the occasional inpatient speech therapy evaluations and interventions, ensuring seamless continuity of care throughout each patient's journey.
  • Uphold meticulous documentation standards in alignment with the regulations set forth by local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Keep abreast of the latest advancements in the field through continuous education and collaborative opportunities with peers.
Educational Requirements
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Successful completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if certification from ASHA has not yet been achieved.
Credential Requirements
  • State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 30 days of hire.
Required Skills
  • Expertise in evidence-based treatment modalities for all age groups, displaying a sophisticated understanding of developmental and acquired disorders related to speech, language, and swallowing.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Adeptness in adapting therapy strategies to accommodate diverse cultural and linguistic needs.
  • Strong clinical judgment paired with problem-solving capabilities.
  • Comfortable utilizing electronic medical records and adhering to documentation standards.
Perks and Benefits
  • Competitive salary reflective of experience and qualifications.
  • Flexible scheduling options to promote work-life harmony with assorted caseloads.
  • Opportunities to focus on specialties such as pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatric services.
  • Paid time off (PTO) along with compensation for holidays worked.
  • Choices of medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
  • Support for continuing education and professional growth initiatives.
  • A collaborative environment that champions quality care and lifelong learning.
