CDL Driver
The CDL Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of goods, materials, and equipment between company facilities and farms in the Upper Cumberland area, with occasional trips to North Alabama. This is a primarily Monday through Friday position with local routes, requiring strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company safety policies, and biosecurity protocols. The ideal candidate will be an experienced driver with a strong work ethic, excellent safety record, and the ability to work independently.
Applicants are not allowed to own any kind of birds due to the risk of possible disease transmission.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of trucks, including tractor-trailers (18-wheelers) and smaller delivery trucks.
- Load and unload materials or equipment, ensuring secure placement before travel.
- Transport goods and materials to designated locations according to scheduled routes and delivery times.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, checking tires, oil, fuel, lights, brakes, hoses, and other components for safety and compliance.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, mileage records, and fuel reports in accordance with DOT requirements.
- Disinfect trucks before arriving at different poultry farm locations to maintain biosecurity standards.
- Communicate promptly with dispatchers or supervisors regarding delays, incidents, or changes to delivery schedules.
- Assist with occasional farm and hatchery duties as needed.
- Wash and clean trucks as necessary to maintain professional appearance and operational condition.
- Report any truck or equipment maintenance issues immediately to a supervisor.
- Follow all local, state, and federal traffic laws, as well as company and DOT safety policies.
Qualifications
Minimum 21 years of age.Valid Class A CDL with at least 2 years of verifiable driving experience and a satisfactory driving record.Previous experience transporting live poultry is preferred.Knowledge of DOT, state, and federal transportation laws and regulations.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.High school diploma or equivalent.Strong attention to detail, sound work ethic, honesty, and integrity.Basic math skills and ability to read, write, and follow instructions accurately.Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.Physical ability to sit and drive for up to 10 hours per shift, climb in and out of truck cabs, and lift / move up to 50 lbs.Work Conditions
