Our client, a highly regarded law firm, is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property (Patent) Associate Attorney to join their growing life sciences and pharmaceutical patent practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled IP professional to work closely with innovative clients on complex patent matters involving small molecules and biologics.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, prosecute, and manage U.S. and international patent portfolios related to small molecule and biologic therapies.
Provide strategic patent counseling, including exclusivity assessments, freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses, and invalidity / non-infringement opinions.
Support and participate in patent litigation matters, including Hatch-Waxman / ANDA litigation.
Collaborate directly with clients R&D, product development, and business development teams to identify, protect, and maximize IP value.
Educate scientists and stakeholders on intellectual property strategies and considerations.
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in the U.S.
Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Minimum 4 years of patent experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences sectors.
Advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in chemistry, biology, immunology, or biochemistry preferred; alternatively, significant R&D or industry experience may be considered.
In-house experience in small molecule chemistry is a strong plus.
Demonstrated experience in global patent prosecution and opinion work (FTO, invalidity, non-infringement).
Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive matters independently.
Proven ability to synthesize complex IP issues and communicate clear, business-minded recommendations to cross-functional teams.
