Join Esperanza Health Center as a Staff Accountant , a vital role within our Finance / Billing Department. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to our mission-driven organization by ensuring accurate financial recordkeeping, supporting audits, managing accounts, and enhancing internal processes. The role is full-time, exempt, and reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

Position Summary :

The Staff Accountant is responsible for general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, monthly financial closings, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of accounting records and financial reports in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). A key member of the Finance and Payroll teams, the Staff Accountant collaborates with team members to achieve financial goals. This role plays an essential part in assisting the Senior Accountant in the timely preparation of monthly financial statements and maintaining the integrity of the general ledger.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Financial Recordkeeping and Reporting :

• Prepare journal entries by compiling and analyzing relevant information.
• Reconcile cash postings with cash received in coordination with the Patient Accounts department.
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, including bank statements, petty cash, fixed assets, and depreciation schedules.
• Monitor accounts receivable, including donations, grants, and other income, and coordinate with program managers to ensure accurate expense coding.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all financial activities and assist with monthly financial closing processes.

Qualifications :

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Financial Edge) and Microsoft Excel.
