Substitute Courier
Kitsap Regional Library is seeking a dynamic, customer service oriented person who has the flexibility to work as a Substitute Courier to ensure a smooth flow of library materials and supplies between all nine branches of the Kitsap Regional Library system. This position includes a variety of physical activities including driving, loading and delivering shipment boxes and supplies, as well as minor vehicle maintenance. The ideal candidate will provide exemplary internal customer service and maintain a clean driving record.
Qualifications and Experience
High School diploma or GED and three years of driving experience required. Two years of prior delivery experience, preferred. This position requires a valid Washington state driver's license and safe driving record.

Offers to new employees are expected to be between $19.66 and $20.86 depending on required and relevant experience and in alignment with internal equity.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a staff member to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and involves light to medium physical demands with frequent lifting and carrying of totes and other library materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Incumbents must move between locations within the library and to / from the delivery vehicle (typically a large, sprinter-style van).
Work involves frequent movement, lifting, carrying, and maneuvering over extended periods of time; operating hand trucks or controls including keyboards, telephones and other office equipment; noise from other vehicles, etc.; Must be able to work while others are working in a shared team area. Periodic exposure to dust, dirt and noise while work is conducted.
Occasionally, the incumbent must safely move or maneuver objects or materials weighing up to 50 pounds, including stooping, reaching, lifting, bending or transferring materials and other equipment to carts, tables, or shelves of varying heights. Frequently, the incumbent must safely move or maneuver objects or materials weighing up to 20 pounds, including stooping, reaching, lifting, bending or transferring materials and supplies.
Visual acuity essential for tasks include identifying, observing and inspecting written communications; driving library vehicles. Work performed and delivered are guided by precise deadlines. High cognitive demands include attention to detail, ability to evaluate road and traffic conditions, operate a delivery van safely, plan routes and defensive driving techniques and follow clear procedures and safety and traffic laws.
Excellent communication skills, customer service abilities, and multitasking are also essential for success in this role.

Schedule
This is a part time, non-exempt substitute position. The schedule will be determined by the supervisor upon hire and may include weekends and evenings. Please note that schedules are subject to change to meet the needs of the library.
Substitute Couriers work out of the Bremerton Sylvan Way branch, driving to all nine KRL locations. The schedule may include up to a maximum of 69 hours in a month.
