Data Center Microgrid Electrical Project Manager - Paramus, NJ

We are looking for a Data Center Microgrid Electrical Project Manager to support critical facility microgrid construction projects. The Electrical Construction PM will be responsible to manage projects from cradle to grave : estimates, run project to completion, handle procurement, and provide support post implementation. They will handle all aspects of managing a data center microgrid construction project and this will include providing leadership to contractors and vendors associated with the delivery of company's electrical projects. The candidate will have overall responsibility for the delivery of assigned projects on budget on time and assurance that the project scope and quality meet Company Design Standards and the objectives set for the project. The successful candidate will have to be exceptionally organized and be great with back-office work (change orders, budgets, process driven, etc.). Ideal candidate has come up the ranks in Electrical trades on the commercial side of business.
The Microgrid EPM will oversee the delivery and execution of behind-the-meter (BTM), or off-grid microgrids, gas-fired power plants, and solar storage systems for hyperscale and colo data centers. This role combines a strong business acumen, problem solving and a builder’s mindset. You will drive the expansion of this data center power solutions vertical and build trusted partnerships throughout the industry. Candidate will help drive new business by keeping the firm at the forefront of resilient / scalable energy infrastructure geared for the mission-critical facilities industry.
Responsibilities :
- Project focus will be in excess of 50-100mm range and focus will be on new construction
- Construct Microgrids providing Distributed Energy options : Solar, Battery / Energy Storage, Gas Generation to support data center facility operations
- Maintain all logs required to track the progress of the project
- Oversee the project through administrative direction of on-site supervision to ensure the project is built following design, budget, and schedule
- Ensure that in the design phase, that execution details are integrated into project plans from the outset, (e.g., provide insights into natural gas requirements, operational feasibility, vendor alignment, and other operational feasibility risks)
- Manage customer expectations, technical requirements, and regulatory considerations are on track to be fully addressed
- Manage relationships with regulatory bodies, utilities, and local authorities to secure necessary approvals and ensure compliance
- Execute any infrastructure updates required for the site, including natural gas pipeline connection and potential lateral builds
- Maintain liaison with various contractors and vendors in order to manage the day-to-day activities that impact the delivery of company’s critical facilities construction projects
- Lead EPC oversight activities, ensuring all vendors and contractors deliver in alignment with the expectations and timelines of data center customers
- Track construction progress against the agreed-upon schedule, proactively identifying and resolving delays or bottlenecks to maintain project momentum
- Conduct regular site visits and progress reviews, ensuring adherence to quality standards, safety protocols, and contractual obligations
- Primary point of contact for senior leadership during the construction phase, providing updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring satisfaction with project execution
- Drive Company Standards uniformly as it regards to Project Delivery by all project participants on all projects
- Manage financial aspects of contracts (progress billing, rental equipment, income / expenses) to protect the company’s interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with the client
Qualifications :
Previous experience with EPC dealing with large-scale infrastructure projects such as data center builds or powerplant installations / MicrogridsPrevious track record of delivering projects on time and within budget while maintaining high-quality standardsRegulatory compliance and infrastructure developmentSignificant experience managing permitting processes, utility connections (e.g., natural gas pipelines), and other regulatory requirements for large-scale energy or data center projects or microgridsFamiliarity with local, state, and federal regulations governing energy infrastructure is essentialCustomer-focused project leadershipPrevious experience with hyperscalers, colocation providers, or other large-scale customers, ensuring their needs are met throughout the project lifecycleTransparent communication and delivery with all internal and external stakeholdersExperience managing Data Center Construction Projects as a General ContractorExperience managing budgets 50-500mm; p / l experience5+ years of supervisory experience / People and Resource ManagementExperience interpreting blueprints and specifications - both electrical and mechanical drawingsBA / BS / Associates Degree a plus but not requiredClient Facing / Client relationship / Client Management skillsSolid Construction Project Management experienceAbility to successfully work independently; Self Starter, self motivated, and attention to detailTravel as needed to project sitesSolid Admin skillsOSHA Certification (or ability to get one within first 12 months of employmentComputer savvy : MS Project, Excel, Teams, MS Project, Oracle Primavera P6, Bluebeam, Procore, AutoCAD a plusPrevious experience in the Military / Military Veterans a huge plus!
