Job Summary The purpose of the position is to assist students with disabilities who are receiving special education services by performing paraprofessional duties including modality-based academic instruction, physical education instruction, social skills instruction, behavioral modification and management, preparation of instructional materials, clerical tasks, and related duties as assigned.
Special Education Paraeducators I and II are assigned to a variety of grade levels, preschool to adult, and a variety of settings, including resource programs, general education classes, special day classes, classrooms for emotionally disturbed students, and as one-to-one support assistance to students. Paraeducator support may be provided in a variety of class settings.

Oral Board interviews anticipated to be held on April 9. Time will be determined once complete application is received and screened as complete.
This is to fill current and future vacancies for the 2025-26 school year by establishing candidates on the district's eligibility list for Paraeducator I and Paraeducator II. Must be willing to work in person. School site(s) and schedules will be determined and matched with candidates' preferences and experience. Typical positions are between 6 and 6.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday. Positions are required to work a schedule similar to the student instructional schedule, based on school site schedule/student schedule and need.
Experience working with students with disabilities or in a classroom setting is preferred, but we encourage persons with no experience to also apply.
New hire starting range to be determined after consideration and review of application on file and any relevant years of education or job related experience. Salary range for new hires will be $22.35-$24.64/hour for Paraeducator I positions and $23.50-$25.91/hour for Paraeducator II positions (depending on individual eligibility and placement)
TEST INFORMATION: ALL APPLICANTS MUST TEST OR SUBMIT A COPY OF TRANSCRIPT. Applicants who possess an AA or AS Degree, or who have two full years of college coursework (48 semester units or 60 quarter units from an accredited college course with a grade of C or better will count) are not required to take the District offered written examination. If you wish to be waived from the written examination, you must submit copies of your transcripts with your application. If hired, you will be required to submit official transcripts.
If you do not have the required units you will be contacted to take a written examination covering mathematics and writing skills required by minimum qualifications contained in the Class Specification (NCLB Examination). The NCLB exam is offered in person only at the District Office, 1500 Lizzie St. San Luis Obispo, CA 93401.

Oral Board Interviews: Next dates: Anticipated on April 9.
An oral board interview covering personal qualifications, experience, and training is required to becoming established on an eligibility list. Interviews are approximately 20 minutes to interview for one position. If desiring to interview for both paraeducator I and II, please note on your application and you may be scheduled for a combo interview which is approximately 25-30 minutes. Minimum passing score is 70%. Candidates will be contacted for a hiring interview when they have placed in the top three ranks of current eligibility list. If you have not placed in the top three ranks, you will be placed on the eligibility list for six months from the date of the oral boards for other vacancies that may arise during that time.
Background and TB Clearances will be required to obtain prior to starting work once a conditional offer of employment has been made.
SPECIAL NOTES:
1) Correctly filling out forms and following other instructions contained in this notice are part of the testing process.

3) Veterans qualifying for the oral board examination may receive 5 additional points added to their final score if proof of discharge is submitted at time of oral board interview.
