Who we are and what we do :

OIC conducts statewide criminal and administrative investigations of offenses relative to or affecting the TDOC. OIC leads TDOC efforts towards the apprehension of absconders and high-risk fugitives who have violated the terms of their supervision, often in cooperation with local, state, and federal law enforcement authorities. OIC is responsible for identifying and managing the security threat group population within state correctional facilities or community supervision field offices to assist in the management of this high risk population. OIC conducts TDOC intelligence functions and provides intel regarding trends within TDOC, ensuring the executive team is aware of changes or events that might affect the safety and security of personnel, offenders, and the department.

How you make a difference in this role :

The Office of Investigations and Conduct (OIC) Deputy Director is a key member of the OIC leadership team with the responsibility of providing leadership, strategic and operational oversite. OIC is a law enforcement entity, with full police authority, of the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC). The Deputy Director will be a direct report of the OIC Director.

Key Responsibilities :

The OIC Deputy Director assists with overall operations which include the following :

• Ensures proper case routing, completion and tracking
• Conducts quality assurance for accuracy of reporting measures
• Assists in OIC specific training needs
• Ensures a continual review and updating of processes for pertinent policy and training requirements

In addition, this position reports to the Director of the Office of Investigation and Conduct and is expected to be on call 24 hours / 7 days-a-week; nights / weekends / holidays, overnight stays, and must be able to respond immediately to major crimes and incidents, including unexpected overtime and potential overnight trips.
