Position Summary
The Student - Automotive Lab Aide is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the support the Automotive Lab and services.
Note : Cochise College requires a post offer, pre-employment background screening of all employees.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities : Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position :
Assists instructor in lab preparation and assist during lab
Ensures safe work environment by complying with OSHA regulations for handling hazardous materials, and follows waste regulations and proper procedures in the disposal of chemicals
Cleans shop and maintaining clean environment
Assists with tool crib; distribution and inventory of tools
Maintains tools and / or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition
Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Education and Experience; Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education and Experience Requirements :
Enrollment at Cochise College with a minimum of 6 credits per semester and 3 credits in the summer
Possess and maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or higher
Students attending Cochise College on an F-1 Visa require full-time enrollment with a minimum of 12 credits per semester and six credits in the summer

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work Environment : Work is primarily performed under general supervision in an lab setting with varying climate conditions. May include exposure to mechanical and chemical hazards. May require working evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements : Essential functions of this position require : lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate.
Medium work : Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and / or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting only occasionally, walking and standing are required regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch / squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn / twist, balance, reach, or handle
Mental Application : Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem solving skills are important
