Job Description
Our client is seeking a compassionate and skilled Therapist to join their outpatient behavioral health practice in Virginia Beach, VA. The Therapist will provide counseling and psychotherapy services to children, adolescents, adults, and families in an outpatient setting. This role involves performing assessments, developing treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based interventions to support clients’ mental, emotional, and behavioral health.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and psychosocial evaluations.
- Formulate diagnoses in accordance with DSM-V-TR and Virginia Board of Counseling regulations.
- Develop individualized treatment plans collaboratively with clients and update regularly.
- Provide individual, family, and group therapy utilizing evidence-based modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, IFS, ACT, etc.).
- Deliver culturally competent care with sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and needs.
Crisis & Case Management
Respond to clients experiencing acute and / or chronic psychiatric or emotional crises.Create and implement safety plans as needed.Coordinate care with psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, primary care providers, schools, and community agencies.Refer clients to outside resources including a higher level of care when appropriate.Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with HIPAA, Virginia Board of Counseling standards, and insurance requirements.Draft and complete client care documentation including initial evaluation reports, progress notes, treatment plan reviews, and discharge summaries.Participate in utilization reviews and provide documentation for insurance authorizations as required.Collaboration & Professional Development
Attend staff meetings, case consultations, and multidisciplinary treatment team discussions.Participate in ongoing professional training, supervision, and continuing education to maintain licensure.Uphold ethical and professional standards as set forth by the Virginia Board of Counseling, NASW, APA, or other relevant governing bodies.Requirements
Education : Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or related behavioral health field.
Licensure : Active Virginia licensure required (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist).
Experience :
Prior experience in outpatient mental health or related clinical settings preferred.Training in trauma-informed care, family systems, or child / adolescent therapy is highly valued.Skills :
Strong diagnostic and therapeutic skills.Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.Ability to manage caseload independently while working within a collaborative team.Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.Working Conditions
