The Nursing Director manages the nursing units and leads them in providing excellent patient focused care by :
Develops departmental goals and objectives, which are compatible with the vision, values and goals of Island Hospital and supporting of the annual organizational goals.Develops strategies in regards to employee engagement and retention including ongoing evaluations and improvements to onboarding, orientation, recognition, selection, and performance management strategies.The Director is responsible to provide an excellent patient experience for all patients by implementing and enforcing initiatives, projects, programs and standards. Utilizes the Shared Governance concept of nursing practice and decision-making in the department / s :Ensures that quality care is delivered to the patient. and demonstrates knowledge of and enforces regulatory compliance with accrediting and licensing bodies such as DNV and the State Department of Health, along with hospital and patient care policies, procedures and standards.Develops unit specific and system-wide quality initiatives, in collaboration with Chief Nursing Officer and Quality Director.Develops and manage an annual budget, identifying cost saving or revenue producing opportunities and ensuring responsible management of supplies, staffing and other resources.Building healthy team and professional relationships :Manages daily operations of the department.Provides timely personnel and performance management and staff education.Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Skills / Qualifications :

Previous management / supervisory experience.BSN preferred.Minimum 2 years' experience in area of assignment.Work Environment and Physical Demands :
The work of this position is performed inside, exposing the employee to indoor environmental conditions, protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The employee may be exposed to dust, pollens, pollutants, fumes, communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common a health care environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods of time; push, pull and reach; occasionally bend, sit, stoop and stretch. The employee will need full range of body motion, including handling and lifting of patients, should have the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and medical equipment. Normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports are required; specific vision requirements : close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
