Position Title : Special Education Teacher
Location : Wilmerding, PA
Type : Full-Time, 10-Month Position
Reports To : Director of Special Education
Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and student-centered Special Education Teacher to join our instructional team for the 2025–2026 school year. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality instruction, implement and manage Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and collaborate with general education teachers to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct instruction aligned with IEP goals using evidence-based practices.
Develop, manage, and implement IEPs in compliance with Pennsylvania and federal regulations.
Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to ensure accommodations and modifications are effectively applied.
Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and parent conferences.
Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and service delivery.
Support students in both push-in and pull-out instructional settings as needed.
Implement and reinforce positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS).
Assist in creating transition plans and ensuring compliance with post-secondary readiness requirements.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold the dignity and rights of all students.
Engage in ongoing professional learning related to special education compliance, instructional methods, and inclusive practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
Valid Pennsylvania Special Education Teaching Certification (PK–12 or 7–12).
Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and PA Chapter 14 regulations.
Experience developing and implementing IEPs for diverse learners.
Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
Collaborative mindset and commitment to inclusive education practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in diverse or innovative educational settings.
Familiarity with electronic IEP systems (e.g., PowerSchool Special Programs, IEPWriter, etc.).
Ability to integrate social-emotional learning and restorative practices into instruction.
Demonstrated enthusiasm for fostering student growth and success.
