Job Posting : Grounds Maintenance Worker II
The Grounds Maintenance Worker II is responsible for providing attractive, safe, and well-maintained grounds. Job duties include mowing and trimming grounds, picking up litter and servicing trash barrels, preparing and maintaining planting beds, pruning and maintaining trees, preparing grounds for special events, clearing pedestrian walkways of leaves, litter, debris, blow, cleaning chalk graffiti, picking up landscaping material orders from off-campus vendors, removing safety and pedestrian hazards after extreme weather events, using a computer and work phone to monitor and address AIM work orders and SAP entries, reporting problems and safety issues to supervisor, attending regular training, and other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications include knowledge of landscape maintenance best management practices, safety standards associated with landscape maintenance, proficiency with landscape maintenance small engine equipment, riding mowers and zero turn mowers, ability to communicate verbally and receive instructions, ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. alone or 80 pounds with assistance, ability to perform strenuous physical duties outdoors in various weather conditions, and ability to work in inclement weather. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of PPE, plant identification, and pesticide / application knowledge.
Normal work days are Monday through Friday, with work hours from 8 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM. The job posting closes at midnight on the job close date, which is open until filled. The applicant must have a valid Texas driver's license and be a driver in good standing with less than ten (10) points deducted for driving infractions as determined by the employer driving standards system.
