Job description

Popina NYC is looking for dedicated and experienced  Prep Cook  to join our team! We are looking for Full-Time and Part-time. Seasonal prep also considered. Fluency in both English and Spanish is highly preferable.

Experience & Qualifications :

3 years of prep experience in a fast-paced, full-service restaurant.

Passion for excellence, superior service standards, and a positive attitude.

Open availability including mornings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Confidence and ability to push though several large prep tasks accurately during an 8hr shift, 5 days per week. (40hrs / week total) Many shifts you will work independently with little oversight and therefore reliably getting to work on time and the high quality of your work are a must.

Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the shift, including frequent bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and stooping.

Ability to remain positive and productive in a potentially hot or cold work environment.

Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Receive, check, and properly store all deliveries in an organized and timely fashion.
  • Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies as directed by the CDC, Sous Chef, or other management.

    Ensure proper inventory rotation.

  • Thoroughly communicate with management when you notice products that need to be ordered.
  • Cook and prepare menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff according to Popina's Recipe Book, ensuring food quality and time standards are always met.

    Maintain a high level of communication, ability to multi-task, and ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines

    Answer, report to, and follow instructions and direction from CDC, Sous Chef, or other management.

    Properly clean and break down station at the end of your production shifts, ensuring all sanitation standards are met.

    Ensure that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations at all times.

    Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers, leadership, and vendors.
