MedStar Washington Hospital Center the largest and most comprehensive hospital in the Washington, D.C. region is seeking an experienced and visionary Nursing Director to lead our 4F Medicine Pulmonary Unit, a 26-bed specialty unit dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients with complex pulmonary and medical conditions.
About the Role
As a key member of the MedStar Health Division of Nursing leadership team, the Nursing Director provides 24-hour administrative, operational, and clinical oversight for the unit. Responsibilities
Lead and develop a team of nursing professionals and support staff, fostering an environment of mentorship, shared governance, and professional growth.
Ensure delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care aligned with MedStar's mission and nursing strategic priorities.
Manage operational performance, fiscal planning, staffing models, and quality improvement initiatives for optimal clinical outcomes.
Collaborate with medical staff and hospital leadership to promote interdisciplinary care coordination and throughput efficiency.
Serve as a role model and change agent, advancing nursing excellence, professional development, and innovation in patient care.
Qualifications
Education :
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (required)
Master's degree in Nursing or related health field (preferred)
Experience :
Minimum 57 years of nursing experience, including 12 years in leadership or management roles
Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex clinical operations
Licensure / Certification :
Current RN license in the District of Columbia
Specialty certification in clinical area or nursing administration (within 2 years of hire)
CPR (AHA or Red Cross) certification
