P&C IT Services provides professional services to help our business units and corporate functions use technology to create, manage, and optimize information and business processes. IT Services can include a wide range of activities such as : software development, data management, Cloud services, IT security, network security, technical support, establishing and overseeing access rights, procuring and maintaining equipment or software, managing the infrastructure, and defining security procedures. The overall goal of IT Services is to provide technology solutions that increase efficiency, reduce costs, and give our company a competitive advantage over our competitors.

Our Great American Software Lab (G.A.S. Lab) is looking for a Senior Application Engineer to join our team and work a hybrid schedule out of the Cincinnati office.

Automation Lab is a collaborative environment building distributed systems that enable enterprises to focus on their business rather than re-architecting a cloud platform from scratch.

Desired Skills / Experience :

• Ability to dive into a large polyglot codebase and contribute as you learn
• Interest in exploring new programming paradigms, languages, and patterns
• Demonstrable ability to research problems and break them into discrete parts
• Comfortable with Test Driven Development (TDD)
• Comfortable with full-time pair programming
• Experience with log analysis, streaming data, streaming metrics
• Experience with metric analysis and visualization
• Experience building, maintaining and troubleshooting CI and CD pipelines
• Concourse and / or GitHub Actions, for example
• Experience with AI coding assistant tooling
• Preferably GitHub Copilot, but can be any tool that supports IDE-based generative-AI and agentic coding
• Experience applying AI / ML Large Language Model to a delivered solution would be beneficial
• Technical area experience
• Worked with large Java codebases
• Spring / Spring Boot
• Vue Javascript library or any modern Javascript UI framework
• Cloud Native Development - (Tanzu is nice to have)
• IntelliJ (nice to have) or any modern IDE
• GitHub
