Job Description
The purpose of this class is implementation and oversight of Shelter programs. The class may be assigned to any tasks within the following functional areas; Adoption Counselor / Special Events, Volunteer, Rescue or Foster Coordinator. As an employee of the animal care shelter, the coordinator may also assist in daily Shelter operations when needed. Provides high quality customer service to people who visit or call Animal Services. Works under the direct supervision of the Shelter Supervisors or the Lead Veterinarian.
Position Duties
The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Actively promote and coordinate the foster / rescue program. Coordinates foster eligible animals and foster parents.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of six (6) months of experience in animal welfare or related field. public contact and kennel work in a public shelter.
Requires Valid Florida Class Driver's License (must be maintained for duration of employment).
Must be computer proficient, including working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office (especially Word & Excel), and be able to learn new programs quickly.
Knowledge of pet behavior and care. Ability to work with and handle all kinds of animals in a safe and responsible manner.
Must provide a high level of customer service at all times, even under stressful conditions.
This position requires successful completion of the Sheriff's Office pre-employment medical certification.
Additional Information
Work schedule includes weekends, holidays and evenings. May require working varying shifts any day of the week.
Employees will have contact with inmates during the normal course of the workday.
Successful completion of a criminal background investigation including polygraph, reference / employment / neighborhood checks. submit to screening for illegal drug use prior to assuming position and will be subject to return to duty, post-accident and / or random and reasonable suspicion drug tests while employed with BCSO.
