System Engineer - Level 1
Location : Onsite in secure government facility (SCIF) - Maryland area
Clearance Required : Active Secret (minimum) - TS / SCI strongly preferred
Citizenship : U.S. Citizens Only - No dual citizenship permitted
Start Date : Immediate upon clearance validation and customer approval
Years of Experience Required : 3+ (7 baseline; may be reduced via substitutions)
We are seeking a System Engineer (Level 1) to support the design, development, and integration of mission systems for U.S. Government Intelligence Programs. This position requires a strong foundation in system engineering, requirements analysis, and technical documentation development within secure government environments.
You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to manage system requirements, contribute to architecture and design efforts, and ensure interoperability across complex system-of-systems environments.
Responsibilities
- Analyze user requirements, concepts of operations , and high-level system architectures to develop detailed system requirement specifications.
- Lead or contribute to system design and development activities ensuring compliance with technical and operational needs.
- Develop and maintain system architecture and system design documentation , including system integration and test plans.
- Participate in and support Configuration Control Board (CCB) processes, design reviews , and test reviews requiring cross-discipline coordination.
- Develop System Engineering Plans (SEPs) , Initial Capabilities Documents (ICDs) , and Requirements Specifications .
- Define and manage system and derived requirements to ensure compatibility with defined architectures such as DoDAF and SOA .
- Support the development of verification methods and evaluation criteria to ensure that systems and subsystems meet their requirements.
- Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to design and implement new system capabilities.
- Provide input to program plans, work breakdown structures (WBS) , and technical documentation.
- Develop and allocate requirements for information assurance (IA) and security mechanisms such as authentication, access control, and cryptographic methods.
Required Qualifications
Recent technical experience within the past 18 months.Baseline : 7 years of experience as a System Engineer in programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.Reduced Minimum (for JobDiva) : 3+ years with applicable certification or degree substitutions.Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university.Substitution : Five (5) additional years of SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.Strong understanding of systems engineering principles , lifecycle development , and requirements management .Experience with DoD Architecture Frameworks , Agile / DevSecOps processes , and secure systems design preferred.
