Job description

Then we invite you to look at our prn dietitian opportunity with Swope Behavioral Health. The Dietitian's role responsibilities and areas of focus will be to serve as a member of our specialized health care consultant team for the Behavioral Health- Health Care Home, providing expertise for current care reviews and recommendations on dietary interventions and lifestyle changes to improve the health and the quality of life for program participants. The role will also serve as the dietitian specialty to develop healthy diet menus and service strategies for our residential programs, provide individualized consultation to residential clients with special diet needs, and facilitate team education sessions to expand their knowledge of specialized diet management and techniques for coaching adults toward healthier eating and promotion of positive lifestyle skills.

Primary Responsibilities :

Behavioral Health- Health Care Home – BH HCH- Remote- Work to fit your schedule

  • Specialized Health Care Consultant : Completes work from home case reviews via electronic medical record for assigned clients (average 10 to 12 monthly), and provides recommendations for treatment and therapeutic changes that will promote progress toward improved health status.
  • Participates in a 1-hour virtual monthly treatment team to collaborate on dietary recommendations made and implementation strategies for the plan of care with the BH HCH care team.

Behavioral Health Residential Services Programs – Scheduled Time on Campus

  • Develops and oversees therapeutic diet menus for the residential program locations that meet required nutrition and dietetics standards.
  • Scheduled Dietitian Consults : Provides consultation with clients related to dietary issues and makes recommendations that can promote healthy eating and progress toward improved health status.
  • In partnership with the program leadership, develops and facilitates training and education to behavioral health associates (average 2 to 3 yearly), on specialized diets, nutrition, and coaching tools that enhances team competence in promoting health eating and life style for adult program residents.
  • For all services :

  • Provides services for patients ages 5 to 75 + years of age.
  • Maintains up-to-date and appropriate documentation in the participant's electronic medical record, program spreadsheets, and / or any other form of documentation required to reflect dietitian services
  • Participates in / competes required in-services, trainings, online competencies as required to maintain PRN employed status with Swope Health and in compliance with professional credentialing
  • Education / Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree from a dietetics program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND)
  • Registered Dietician (RD) or Registered Dietician Nutritionist (RDN) -An individual meeting the registration requirements established by the Missouri Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR) and licensed by the Missouri Division of Professional registration
  • Knowledge in the principles and practices of nutritional counseling and education.
  • (1 to 2) years' experience working as a Registered Dietitian.
  • Working at least 1 year with clients with a co-existing mental health condition preferred
