Job description

Job Summary

The Transportation Manager is responsible for directing the CNG Bulk transport division including coordination of fleet maintenance, dispatching, employee management, safety, budgeting, and sales.

Compensation

90k-$110k

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations CNG fleet operations
  • Promote safe work activities by conducting safety audits, leading and attending regular safety meetings, working closely with the safety manager, and recognizing key safety contributions
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics and ensure that they are communicated and implemented within the team
  • Ensure compliance with all transportation regulatory issues
  • Responsible for Centralized Dispatch of bulk fleet orders for all deliveries to customers
  • Manage efficient usage of equipment and personnel for material deliveries
  • Prepare and monitor the annual sales / operations budget for the transportation business unit
  • Fleet metrics management and monthly reporting
  • Monthly P&L responsibility
  • Establish haul costs for internal and external bidding purposes; works with sales and billing to ensure proper rates and stand-by times are utilized and included
  • Work with the Equipment Manager and truck shops to keep an updated and well-maintained truck fleet
  • Responsible for handling any driver and service personnel after-hours accidents, issues, and concerns
  • Responsible for the hiring, training, and development of personnel
  • Work with sales on growth opportunities
  • Education

  • High school diploma / GED
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Requirements / Qualifications

  • Safety mentality
  • Three or more years coordinating people and resources in a construction materials environment, particularly working within or with the DOT
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for moving construction materials by truck, including relative costs, customer needs, efficient scheduling and safe operations
  • Must demonstrate strong business acumen
  • Salesmanship skills to attract and retain relationships with sub-haulers
  • Familiarity with scaling, bill prep and invoicing construction materials
  • Strong computer skills, i.e., Microsoft Suite, Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to motivate a team
  • Experience interviewing, selecting, and training people
  • Presentation skills
  • Critical thinking and decision-making under pressure
  • Preferred :

  • College Degree in Transport and Logistics
  • Familiar with SAP
  • Conditions of Employment

    Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug / alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration / clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
