Accountant

The Accountant will perform general ledger tasks and financial reporting functions for Catholic Charities of Onondaga County and / or other agencies that we serve. Perform general ledger accounting and reporting tasks for assigned programs. This includes but is not limited to accurately classifying cash disbursements and cash receipts, preparing journal entries, and preparing balance sheet reconciliations. Prepare claims for funding sources. Monitor collection of cash against claims submitted to funding sources. Collaborate with programmatic personnel and funders to prepare contract budgets, analyze budget-versus-actual results, and re-allocate expenses when needed. Understand and adhere to reporting requirements of Catholic Charities, funders, and regulatory agencies. Assist in regular audits of agencys fiscal records. Contribute to the departments commitment to continuous improvement. Such initiatives include but are not limited to implementing a new agency credit card platform and increased digitization of workflows. Serve as backup for various accounting tasks.

This position is based on a 35-hour per work week, on-site 100%. Pay is $32.50 / hour.

Qualifications Education and / or Experience Required at Entry : Associates Degree in Accounting.

Licenses / Certificate / Clearances :

Valid N.Y.S. Driver's License. Registered and insured vehicle.

Skills / Abilities : Critical thinking skills. Able and willing to multi-task and embrace change. Self-motivated with effective time management and project management skills. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Office, Teams). Organized and attentive to details. Effective oral and written communication skills.

Working Conditions and Environment / Physical Demands :

Mobility sufficient to work in an office environment. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment, including adding machine
