Aerodynamics Staff Engineer
The Aerodynamics Staff Engineer will report to the Turbine Aerodynamics Manager and be responsible for leading the design of GE Aerospace's next generation of turbine components and associated technologies.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead the aerodynamic design and analysis of high- and low-pressure turbine components
- Perform advanced aero-thermal computational fluid dynamics analyses under the supervision of a project leader or controlled title holder.
- Drive the development of advanced aerodynamic technology to improve engine performance and durability
- Cultivate advanced skills in aerodynamic design, including use of cutting-edge numerical and experimental techniques
- Draw conclusions from component and engine test data to validate aerodynamic designs
- Develop analytical tools / software to improve aerodynamic design and predictive capabilities
- Formulate and execute plans to achieve technical and program requirements
- Develop lean processes to improve organizational productivity and efficiency
- Execute trade studies to meet project requirements, collaborating with horizontal organizations
- Leads program issue resolution efforts to meet customer and / or regulatory expectations across organization
- Strong coaching, mentoring, and training skills within the domain, site, or organization, with a focus on engaging early-career personnel.

Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.Master's Degree from an accredited college / university in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline with an emphasis in aerodynamics, aero-thermal, or aeromechanics and a minimum of 6 years of relevant technical experience.OR
PhD from an accredited college / university in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline with an emphasis in aerodynamics, aero-thermal, or aeromechanics and a minimum of 4 years of relevant technical experience.Desired Characteristics
Master's Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering relevant to turbomachinery aerodynamics with minimum of 6 years of engineering experience OR Doctorate Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering focused on aerodynamics / compressible flowsKnowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and / or aerodynamic testing techniquesSelf-starter, utilizing innovative problem solving to drive solutions on complex issuesFlexible, friendly, and inclusive; comfortable working in multi-disciplinary global teamsDemonstrated group facilitation and collaboration skillsExceptional communication skills, comfortable preparing and giving impactful technical presentationsHighly motivated and passionateKeen listener and innately driven to succeed
