Job description

Patient Care Technician - ACCC - Acute Care Cancer Center (ER)

  • Shift : Night shift. 7 : 00pm - 7 : 00am. Three shifts per week with rotating weekends
  • and holidays.

The Acute Care Cancer Center is a place where patients choose to come when the severity of their disease requires emergency care. More than 26,000 patients annually receive care in MD Anderson's 44-bed ACCC for a variety of acute oncologic emergencies.

SUMMARY

Function : Provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse.

Scope : Impacts patient comfort and outcome of care.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs.
  • Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit / discharge and obtaining vital signs.
  • Updates and retrieves patient information.
  • Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner.
  • Acts as part of an assigned care team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • SUPERVISION

    Received : Directly from a registered nurse.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Education Required : High school diploma or equivalent.

    Education Preferred : None.

    Experience Required : None

    Experience Preferred : One year of patient care experience (current or recent) in a hospital setting, preferably in an emergency room / department.

    Licensure / Certification Required : None.

    Licensure / Certification Preferred : Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

    Other Required : Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.

    Education Required : High school diploma or equivalent.

    Experience Preferred : One year of patient care experience (current or recent) in a hospital setting, preferably in an emergency room / department.

    License / Certification Preferred : Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

    Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.

    This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
