Job Summary
The military and veteran experience advisor promotes the mission and core values of Sanford by providing tactical leadership throughout the region specific to military and veteran related matters. This role will assist in implementing and maintaining military and veteran specific employee, patient / resident / member, and community initiatives. The military and veteran experience advisor leads programs and initiatives to recognize and promote military and veteran employees. Assists with the development of policies and programs to attract, retain and promote military and veteran workforce for the organization. Stewards the planning, monitoring and reporting out of the annual portfolio of military and veteran initiatives, programs and projects across their region of responsibility and Sanford as a whole. Oversees the analyzation of data and insights to identify, understand and articulate the key inputs and metrics that tell the story of military and veteran strategies and its progress. Partners with cross-functional teams within the enterprise (i.e. HR, quality, research, and employee data analytics) to mature the framework used to monitor, assess and respond to employee and patient experience gaps for military members and veterans through regional strategies. Ensures strategies underpinning Sanford's military and veteran commitment are elevated in key external and internal initiatives and program offerings (e.g., scholarships and internships for veterans and veteran employment, healthcare options for veterans and beneficiaries, care navigation, health plan offerings, wellness programs, etc.). Remains current on military and veterans programs and developments by maintaining contact with others in the field (e.g., professional association and educational groups, and professional development efforts). Monitors local, regional and federal veteran's administration policies related to health services, advise Sanford, and advocate on behalf of Sanford. Serves as a liaison to foster relationships and build partnerships between Sanford and regional military bases and academic institutions. Partners with patient experience teams to design and implement strategies aimed at improving care delivery for military and veteran populations. Utilize patient feedback, data insights, and community input to inform initiatives that reduce barriers to care and improve overall satisfaction in military and veterans populations. Serve as a visible and trusted leader in the community, fostering trust and collaboration through community events and outreach initiatives to improve access and outcomes for military and veteran populations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required. Minimum five years' experience in military or veteran's affairs. Possessing experience and knowledge of current Guard and Reserve employer rules and regulations along with Veteran's Affairs benefits and laws is preferred. 2+ years of experience in a formal leadership position working with veteran and military organizations in complex environments is preferred. Status required as defined as "a person who served in the active military, naval, or air service and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable". A copy of a DD 214, NGB Form 22, or Military Statement of Service is required. Experience in Healthcare and / or Government industry preferred.
