Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Interventional Radiology position requiring trauma or stroke center background and active NJ or Compact RN license.

Responsibilities

  • Work within Interventional Radiology at a cancer center and main hospital campus connected by a pedestrian bridge
  • Patient mix includes cancer patients and those requiring interventional radiology procedures, occasionally supporting conscious sedation recovery
  • Day shifts of 4x10 hours, 8 : 00 am to 6 : 30 pm
  • On-call required 1-2 days per week, averaging 4-6 times per month, with call RNs assisting with PICC but not inserting
  • Float required between main campus and cancer center, with assignments based on skillset and patient acuity
  • Procedural work involves A-line and wedge pressure monitoring, with EKOS or similar device experience highly preferred
  • Uses Epic EMR; Epic experience is preferred
  • Primary responsibilities include care of patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures and post-procedure recovery for patients requiring conscious sedation
  • On-call duties are limited to assisting with PICC line procedures
  • Will receive up to 18 hours of required non-billable modules and 4 hours of EPIC training before starting
  • No block scheduling is permitted; schedule requests must be approved prior to booking
  • Holiday coverage is required for at least 2 out of 3 major holidays during the assignment
  • Dress code and scrub color requirements are determined by department policy
  • Former staff of the health system must have at least a 1-year gap before returning as a traveler
  • Callouts during the last week of the contract are not permitted and may affect eligibility for rehire
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
  • Requirements

  • Active NJ or Compact RN license required at time of application
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • At least 1.5 years of Level I trauma or 2 years of Level II trauma experience, or prior stroke center experience required
  • A-line and procedural wedge pressure experience required
  • Scrub experience preferred but not required
  • EPIC charting experience highly preferred
  • Must be able to work at least 2 of 3 major holidays during contract
  • First time travelers and local candidates accepted
