Patient Care Technician
A Patient Care Technician provides quality patient care by assisting the physician with clinic specific tasks, including rooming, vitals, and tasks assigned by the Physician. The Patient Care Technician follows Madison Medical specific standards of practice, policies and procedures. This full time position reports to the Clinic Supervisor / Regional Director of Clinic Operations, is within Mohs Surgery, and is located in Mequon, WI. This position will work with the Mohs surgeon during procedures as well as perform other clinic supportive tasks. Medical Assistants and Surgical Technicians are welcome and encouraged to apply as well.
What You'll Do :
- Escort patients to exam room, complete a brief history and obtain vital signs if needed.
- Perform local anesthesia prior to skin procedures.
- Assist Mohs Surgeon with skin procedures / surgeries such as biopsies and skin cancer removals.
- Document patient information in the electronic health record including scribing for Mohs surgeon.
- Keeps up with the flow of operational needs to ensure the best and timely care for patients manages phone calls and messages efficiently, checks EHR and email regularly, handles prior authorizations and refills, and effectively triages phone calls.
- Organize and prepare exam rooms for patient care.
- Provide patient education and counsel patients regarding their diagnosis and treatment.
- Manage incoming phone calls, prior authorizations, medication refills and communicate biopsy and test results to patients.
- Schedule appointments as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications & Characteristics :
High School Diploma or GEDGraduate of accredited Medical Assistant program, or military equivalent, or demonstrated skills in capacity for at least one yearCurrent Medical Assistant certification preferred but not requiredSurgical Technician experience will also be consideredCurrent CPR certificationStrong data entry skills and ability to work with computer applicationsOrganized with a strong attention to detail in a fast paced environmentStrong and comfortable communicating with patients, peers, and physiciansDemonstrated ability to work well both independently and with co-workers in a teamDrive to provide excellent patient service and care in an environment with significant and frequent opportunities to effectively resolve problems and conflict situationsPerks & Benefits of Madison Medical :
