Job Overview
The Clinical Nurse (CN) II provides Family-Centered Care as demonstrated by recognizing the patient, family and / or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for patient's preferences, values, and needs. Assumes active role in clinical education of patients, families and staff. Functions effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care. Integrates best current evidence with clinical expertise for delivery of optimal health care. Uses data to monitor the outcomes of care processes and uses improvement methods to test changes to continuously improve the quality and safety of health care systems. Minimizes risk of harm to patients and providers through both system effectiveness and individual performance. Uses information and technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision-making.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides care for children with life-threatening illnesses as well as those who are at serious risk for life threatening complications. We care for children from birth to 21 years of age. Patients treated here are experiencing multi-organ system failure, acute and chronic pulmonary conditions, meningitis, septic shock, near drowning, diabetic ketoacidosis, renal and / or hepatic failure, oncology / bone marrow transplant or airway management, among other needs. Major diagnostic categories include respiratory, neurologic, injury / poisoning, trauma, oncologic and infectious disease. The PICU also provides care for patients receiving solid organ transplant as well as neurosurgical, burn, orthopedic, ENT and general pediatric surgical patients. Patients in the PICU are cared for by a multidisciplinary team including pediatric intensivists, RNs and dedicated PICU respiratory therapists, pharmacists, nutritionists, social workers and child life specialists. We provide family-centered care by identifying and addressing the needs of the patient and family throughout their hospitalization.
Our esteemed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit recently received the gold-level Beacon Award for Excellence from the AACN (American Association of Critical-Care Nurses) ! There are only 15 PICUs in the nation with this designation, and our hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus is the only PICU in Colorado that has received this award. We are currently interviewing candidates who have at least one (1) year of pediatric inpatient and / or ICU experience and those with at least one (1) year of adult ICU experience.
Qualifications :
Hours per week : Multiple FTEs available depending on level of relevant experience. Must work 20 hours / week to be eligible for benefits.
Shift : Rotating and straight nights available depending on level of relevant experience.
Eligible Incentives :
Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
Hourly Range : $38.62 to $54.78
