Our client, a national leader in commercial title and escrow services , is seeking a Commercial Underwriting Counsel to provide underwriting guidance and support on complex real estate transactions. This role is ideal for a commercial real estate attorney or experienced title underwriter who enjoys applying legal analysis to real estate matters, solving problems in real time, and partnering with internal teams and clients to deliver best-in-class service.
The successful candidate will bring strong judgment, customer-centric communication skills, and the ability to manage a diverse pipeline of commercial transactions while applying underwriting standards and company guidelines.
Candidate Profile
JD from an ABA-accredited law school requiredActive Bar Admission in any US jurisdiction , in good standing
FL bar admission is preferred , but not required5–7 years of substantive experience in title insurance underwriting or comparable commercial real estate experience in a law firm settingProven ability to interpret and apply underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limitsSolid understanding of commercial real estate transactions , title and settlement processes , and applicable federal and state regulationsStrong relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders and clientsExceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage significant transaction volumeEffective communicator who can deliver guidance with clarity, professionalism, and diplomacyStrong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and provide practical solutionsCollaborative mindset with ability to act decisively when neededCreative, solution-oriented approach to resolving complex title challengesAbility to travel to Orlando or Tampa as needed ; remote candidates considered for extraordinary qualificationsWhat You’ll Do
Provide underwriting support and counsel on the issuance of title commitments and policiesInterpret and apply underwriting standards within delegated authorityAdvise colleagues on real estate settlement procedures and requirementsSupport resolution of title issues and guide transaction strategyCommunicate underwriting decisions to internal teams and external partnersEnsure compliance with company guidelines and regulatory requirementsContribute to internal knowledge sharing and process improvementWhy Join Us?

Compensation & Benefits
Salary range : $100,000 – $150,000+ , as determined by experience and qualificationsQuarterly bonus participation
