ABOUT THE POSITION
The County of Riverside - Riverside University Health System (RUHS) - Community Health Centers is seeking an experienced Licensed Vocational Nurse II to join our team in Banning.
Under supervision and direction of a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or physician, the incumbent will be responsible for rooming, discharging, patient education, billing work queues, referral submission, following-up, and working queues, and patient outreach; performing nursing duties within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing in the care of patients in the Acute Care or Emergency Department; and perform other related duties as required.
The LVN II is distinguished from the class of Nursing Assistant, Health Services Assistant, or Certified Medical Assistant, in that a state license is required of incumbents, and they perform a more highly skilled form of patient care.
This position does require a valid California Vocational Nurse's License issued by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician Examiners and a valid Basic Life Support (BLS).
Additional Qualifications :
This is a hands on position with some clerical job duties required, and on-the-job training will be provided.

Work Schedule :
Work hours will be 4 / 10 shift working Sunday 7 : 30am-6 : 00pm and Monday-Wednesday 10 : 00am- 8 : 30pm; Training will be Monday-Friday 8 : 00am-5 : 00pm.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Licensed Vocational Nurse II :
Experience : At least one year of successful experience as an LVN, preferably in a public health clinic environment or an acute hospital setting working in the emergency room department.
Knowledge of : Current principles, techniques and procedures used in vocational nursing within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing; medical terminology, acute care procedures and equipment; medication administration and any policies and procedures of the setting assigned.
Ability to : Skillfully perform the full range of vocational nursing duties and responsibilities within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing; learn and follow policies and procedures for the setting assigned; establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, mid-level providers, registered nurses, patients, and co-workers; complete and maintain reports and patient records; make observations of situations accurately and report them so effective action can be taken according to rules of documentation and policies and procedures.
Other Requirements :
License : Possession of a valid California Vocational Nurse's License issued by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician Examiners.
Possession of a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association for professional healthcare providers.
A valid California Driver's License is required for some positions in this class.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION : Voluntary employee contribution with a choice between two 457 deferred compensation plan options.
VACATION ACCRUAL (Bi-Weekly Accrual) :
10 or more years = 160 Hours (20 Days)
Maximum Vacation leave accumulation is 480 hours.
SICK LEAVE : Four (4) hours Sick Leave accrual per pay period with unlimited accrual.
HOLIDAYS : Normally 12 paid holidays per year.
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE : Allowed 5 days (3 days are County paid; 2 additional days can be taken from accrued Sick Leave balance).
BASIC LIFE INSURANCE : Equal to one times annual base salary not to exceed $50,000 of term life coverage. Premiums are paid by the County. Additional Supplemental Life plan is available for employee purchase.
DISABILITY :
Employees contribute to State Disability Insurance (SDI), which provides wage replacement benefits for individuals who are unable to work due to non-work-related illness, injury, or pregnancy. SDI also includes Paid Family Leave Benefits. The wage replacement rate is determined by current law, offering 60-70% of the wages earned during the SDI eligibility period.
Additionally, employees receive employer-paid Long-Term Disability Benefits, which cover 66.67% of pre-disability earnings, up to a maximum of $10,000 per month. There is a 365-day waiting period before these benefits become active. Employees may coordinate these benefits with other available leave balances to receive up to 100% of their regular pay.
POST RETIREMENT MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION : A monthly contribution is made by the County towards retiree health insurance offered through the County as governed by the applicable SEIU Memorandum of Understanding.
