Job summary : Assists the GI team staff with Gastroenterology procedures and treatment of patients. Performs a variety of routine patient care, sterilization of equipment after procedures, and other clerical duties when needed. Makes members / patients and their needs a primary focus of one's actions; develops and sustains productive member / patient relationships. Actively seeks information to understand member / patient circumstances, problems, expectations, and needs. Builds rapport and cooperative relationships with members / patients. Considers how actions or plans will affect members; responds quickly to meet member / patient needs and resolves problems.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assists gastroenterologist and providers to perform diagnostic and minor medical procedures, such as biopsies and the application of abdominal pressure when needed.
• Washes, inspects, decontaminates and maintains equipment following established infection control policies and procedures.
• Prepares equipment and supplies needed for scheduled procedures.
• Ensures patient safety in the preparation and provisioning of care related to, but not limited to, medications, procedures, infection prevention, fall prevention, including consistent use of two patient identifiers and procedural time outs.
• Assist in patient flow, providing support as necessary.
• Maintain general stock levels within the department.
• Reports safety hazards, accidents, and incidents, and unsafe working conditions promptly.
• Assist in orienting and training new employees, transporting equipment or patients.
• Performs other related duties as directed.
