The National Security Sector is seeking an Engineering Technician Level II to support the Towed System Intermediate Maintenance Activity (TS IMA) team. This role is essential in providing direct fleet support for towed acoustic systems aboard submarines and surface ships, including around-the-clock assistance globally. Additional responsibilities involve shipping / receiving / warehousing, government property administration, and asset tracking.

Primary Responsibilities

The selected candidate will conduct physical inspections, electrical testing, troubleshooting, assembly, and shipboard installation / removal of towed array modules. This work will take place pier side and may involve various weather conditions or a warehouse environment. Occasional travel within the continental U.S. and overseas may be required on short notice. The position may necessitate overtime work to align with U.S. Navy operational timelines, as well as extended travel to assist at other Towed Systems IMAs when necessary. Upon hiring, the selected applicant will receive on-the-job training and is expected to qualify as a Towed Systems IMA technician. Interaction with Navy, Government, and civilian support contractors is crucial. To be considered for promotion within the IMA program, the selected candidate must achieve Pier-Side Supervisor qualification as per Personnel Qualification Standard (PQS) requirements. Candidates should be able to perform routine tasks with minimal supervision and must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a Department of Defense security clearance at the Secret level and a U.S. Passport.

Basic Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited technical institute or completion of a military electronics course equivalent to U.S. Navy "C" school, along with at least two years of hands-on experience in electronic / electrical equipment testing and repair.
  • Experience with electronic testing equipment and handheld power tools.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance or an interim Secret clearance before starting employment.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • Capability to lift 40 lbs without assistance.
  • Successful completion of a background check and physical examination to drive company vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior U.S. military service, particularly in the Navy, on a platform with towed sonar systems (submarine or surface ship).
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Experience operating, troubleshooting, and / or repairing towed sonar arrays or familiarity with equipment such as AN / BQQ-5, AN / BQQ-6, AN / BSY-1, AN / BSY-2, SQQ-89, OK-276, OA-9070 / 9070A, OK-410 or OK-542 / 542A is desirable.
  • Ability to perform light mechanical maintenance tasks and operate a forklift.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (O365).
  • Fiber Optic Certification is a plus.
  • This position is covered under the Service Contract Act, with adherence to minimum wage and Health and Welfare benefit requirements. The hourly compensation for this position is $24.34.
