Description :
The unit has a 50-mile radius rule.
All submissions must include a copy of the candidate's unexpired driver's license.
Licensing hits must be disclosed at the time of submission.
The unit has 33 beds, all private rooms.
Staffing ratios are 1 to 6.
EPIC experience is required.
Common diagnoses include elective surgeries such as hips, knees, and shoulders.
Patients may also include fractures from falls and cases related to back and neck surgeries.
General MedSurg experience is needed.
RNs on this unit are not required to titrate drips.
Common titratable or set rate drips include IV fluids and PCA pumps.
Heparin or other drips are not utilized.
There is a Charge Nurse available 24 / 7.
Day charge nurses may take patients if necessary.
Night charge nurses will always take a full patient assignment.
Patient Care Techs (PCTs) are available, with a goal of having up to 4 when the unit is full.
The number of PCTs may vary based on staffing needs.
PCT duties include vital signs, finger stick blood sugar checks, activities of daily living, and the ability to discharge Foley catheters.
Respiratory equipment such as CPAP and BiPAP can be managed by respiratory therapists.
Remote telemetry is available if needed, monitored by another floor.
RNs are not required to read telemetry strips.
Shifts are scheduled for 12 hours, from 0700 to 1930 and 1900 to 0730, with a 30-minute lunch break.
Permanent staff perform self-scheduling, while travelers will be scheduled based on unit needs.
Block scheduling may be allowed if unit needs are met.
There is a weekend requirement of every-other-weekend.
Weekend shifts for nights are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; days are Saturday and Sunday.
Holiday requirements will depend on unit needs, and travelers may be expected to work holidays if permanent staff cannot cover.
Travelers are the first to float to other medical surgical units.
Floating is a requirement to other MedSurg units, and if floated to telemetry, patients will be assigned within their skill set.
Scrub color is royal blue.
If jackets are worn, they must be actual scrub jackets and also royal blue.
Hoodies or sweat jackets are not permitted.
One day of EPIC orientation will be provided, followed by one day on the floor with a preceptor before starting independently.
There are no additional notes included.

A cancellation policy is in place where clients may cancel 2 shifts per 13-week assignment and 1 shift for assignments less than 13 weeks.
The charting system used is EPIC.
A BSN is not required.
The trauma level is unspecified.
This is an acute care setting.

Shift notes indicate the need for weekends as scheduled.
Required certifications include BLS (AHA).
