Job Details

  • The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing mammography examinations following ACR requirements.
  • Assists with breast ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, breast localization and other radiologic guided procedures within the Breast Center.
  • Performs diagnostic and screening mammographic examinations on adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients.
  • Performs mammographic imaging for breast needle localization and stereotactic procedures including setup and cleanup.
  • Assists in procedures using ultrasound guidance.
  • Provides immobilization devices, selects proper technical factors based on patient needs, and operates equipment for specific procedures.
  • Identifies patient films correctly with name, x-ray number, side of patient, and initials all films.
  • Develops exposed x-ray film using processing methods.
  • Completes patient requisitions with technologist’s initials, date number, and size of films.
  • Assists with quality control procedures and documentation as delegated by Chief Mammography Technologist.
  • Assists in breast self-exam instruction and other patient education including pre and post procedure instructions.
  • Prepares cases to be imaged including chart and films.
  • Assists with compiling statistics for patient follow-ups, breast localizations, biopsies, and ultrasound examinations.
  • Documents procedures regarding quality control and assurance for mammography in compliance with ACR, MQSA, NJ State and FDA.
  • Documents pertinent patient information in the Breast Center chart.
  • Modifies and delivers care specific to patient needs including age, culture, language, and disabilities.
  • Communicates with patients, parents, and caregivers at appropriate developmental and educational levels.
  • Adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

    • Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years prior experience as a Licensed Mammography Technologist.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Must have ARRT certification.
  • Must obtain mammography certification within the first three months of employment.
  • Must have active Diagnostic Radiography License.
