The Captain / Master of Tow is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of barges and for the safety of the cargo. This role is responsible for the performance and safety of his / her crew, passengers, vessel, and tow; therefore, effective leadership and positive communication is a must. This position includes in harbor and ocean work. This position has a flexible schedule, we are looking for full-time, part-time, casual or hitch at our San Diego and Long Beach locations. Responsibilities
- Accountability for vessel and crew performance and maintenance
- Safely docking and undocking ships
- Ensure that the equipment is kept neat, clean and in good working order
- Ability to take appropriate action under unsafe or difficult conditions
- Report and log near miss, vessel and employee incidents and hazard observations
- Responsible for the safety and motivation of his / her employees to ensure committed effort and discipline
- Other duties as assigned.

200-Ton Near Coastal - MinimumTWICPassportEligible for DBIDS Military Base AccessCPR / First Aid CertCurrent Driver’s License3-5 years’ experienceStrong decision making and problem solving under short notice while prioritizing operational quality.Ability to use navigational methods.Knowledge of computer technology and vessel maintenance System (VMS).Strong written and oral communication skillsBasic Computer Proficiency (Microsoft Excel, Word, Google doc and sheets, etc.)Physical Demands
Must be able to lift, push, pull 50 lbs. without restriction. Position involves heavy equipment and objects.Agility to bend, stoop, or squat, and climb high steps / ladders frequently.Physical dexterity and strength to operate deck machinery; work on equipment that is poorly accessible or in confined workspaces.Must be able to keep balance / equilibrium while performing duties at various heights.Ability to work in confined spaces for prolonged periods of time.Adequate hearing & vision ability.Proper heat / cold tolerance, working in all weather conditions.Comfortable working while exposed to grease, dirt, paint, water, etc.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a positive attitude.Benefits
