Job description

Job Overview :

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Manager to oversee and manage all production operations at our seafood manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food production, preferably within the seafood industry, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. You will be responsible for leading a team, ensuring that production goals are met, and optimizing production processes while maintaining the highest levels of quality and compliance with food safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities :

Production Management :

  • Oversee daily seafood production operations to ensure production targets, quality standards, and safety protocols are consistently met.
  • Coordinate production schedules to ensure that orders are completed on time while optimizing resource usage.
  • Monitor production output, ensuring maximum efficiency while maintaining quality control.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production-related issues to minimize downtime and disruptions.
  • Manage inventory of raw materials and finished goods to ensure product availability while reducing waste.
  • Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify areas for continuous improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and quality enhancement.

Team Leadership :

  • Lead and supervise production staff, including hiring, training, and ensuring adherence to company policies and safety guidelines.
  • Implement and maintain effective communication channels between production, quality control, maintenance, and logistics teams.
  • Foster a positive and productive team culture that encourages accountability, collaboration, and employee engagement.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support career development and training.
  • Quality Control & Compliance :

  • Ensure adherence to food safety regulations, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and other industry-specific regulations.
  • Oversee the implementation of quality control measures at each stage of production, ensuring products meet customer specifications and company standards.
  • Ensure all documentation and reporting requirements are met, including compliance with regulatory bodies and internal audits.
  • Coordinate with the quality assurance team to identify and resolve quality-related issues.
  • Operational Improvement :

  • Continuously evaluate production processes and equipment to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase operational efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall production performance.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure that equipment is well-maintained, and downtime is minimized.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance :

  • Ensure that all safety standards are adhered to and that all employees are trained in proper safety procedures.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols and conducting regular safety audits.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including waste management and sustainable practices.
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in production management, preferably in the seafood or food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, including HACCP, GMP, and relevant seafood industry standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in production management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing facility with exposure to various environmental conditions, including cold storage areas and food production machinery.
  • Occasional lifting of materials (up to 40 lbs).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a high-paced setting.
