Assistant Buyer

As an Assistant Buyer for luxury retail in all categories and across multiple channels, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the buying team in curating an exquisite assortment of products, ensuring alignment with brand standards, market trends, and customer demands. Operating within a dynamic and fast-paced environment, you will assist in driving profitability, maximizing sales, and enhancing the overall customer experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : (The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this job class and are not all-inclusive for this position.)

  • Assortment Planning : Collaborate with the buying team to develop and maintain a comprehensive assortment plan that reflects brand identity, market trends, and customer preferences across all categories.
  • Vendor Management : Assist in establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiating terms, and ensuring timely delivery of merchandise.
  • Market Research : Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging market opportunities to inform assortment decisions and identify growth areas.
  • Inventory Management : Support inventory management efforts, including monitoring stock levels, analyzing sales data, and implementing strategies to optimize inventory turn and minimize stockouts.
  • Financial Analysis : Assist in financial analysis tasks such as forecasting, budgeting, and tracking key performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of buying strategies and identify areas for improvement.
  • Multi-Channel Integration : Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of buying strategies across various channels, including brick-and-mortar stores, e-commerce platforms, and mobile applications.
  • Merchandising Support : Collaborate with the merchandising team to develop visually compelling product presentations, promotional strategies, and marketing campaigns that drive sales and enhance the brand image.
  • Administrative Tasks : Handle various administrative duties such as purchase order management, invoice processing, and maintaining accurate records of transactions and vendor communications.
  • Customer Focus : Maintain a deep understanding of customer preferences and shopping behaviors to anticipate their needs and deliver an exceptional shopping experience across all channels.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in retail buying, preferably within the luxury segment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for building effective vendor relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software for data analysis and inventory management.
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for fashion, luxury retail, and staying updated on industry trends.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, holidays and weekends.
