AIMS Construction is a Construction Manager that specializes in complex, phased renovation projects, specifically within the healthcare and higher education sectors.
Since founding in 1972, AIMS has expanded into a leading mid-sized contractor serving the Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Columbus markets, and has recently transitioned to an ESOP (Employee-Owned Company), reflecting its commitment to shared success.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Superintendent serves as the on-site representative and “face of AIMS,” ensuring that each project is executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality and professionalism. This individual is responsible for day-to-day field operations, including subcontractor coordination, Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) compliance, life safety oversight, scheduling, and quality control.
The Superintendent works closely with the Project Manager and Project Engineer to maintain seamless communication between the field and office teams, resolve issues promptly, and keep projects on schedule and within scope. This position requires no overnight travel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for clients, owners, users, and project teams.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the site-specific safety plan, including MSDS documentation, toolbox talks, signage, PPE compliance, and first aid equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site through effective housekeeping practices, labor management, and debris removal.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager and infection control staff to ensure full ICRA compliance, including containment setup, HEPA filtration, negative air logs, and digital pressure monitoring.
- Create and manage three-week look-ahead schedules to detail specific work planned to manage daily and weekly progress.
- Plan, coordinate, and document utility shutdowns in collaboration with facility maintenance staff.
- Oversee and direct subcontractor activities to ensure adherence to project plans, specifications, quality and safety standards.
- Identify, document, and correct any deficiencies in workmanship or materials.
- Track project progress, issues, and solutions through daily reports and field documentation.
- Request manpower, materials, and equipment as needed to meet project schedule requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
10+ years of commercial construction experience required with 5+ years in healthcare construction preferred.Strong understanding of ICRA, life safety, and healthcare facility protocols .Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills.Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and maintain schedule integrity.Commitment to jobsite safety, cleanliness, and professionalism.OSHA 30 CertifiedProficiency with project management and scheduling software (Microsoft Project and Procore)
