Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry position in a brand new acute care department, requiring a WA or compact RN license and BLS (AHA) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an 18-bed Telemetry unit in an acute care hospital setting
  • Patients include medical-surgical overflow such as CHF, DM, UTI, non-critical sepsis, HTN, COPD, patients in isolation, end-of-life / palliative patients, those awaiting placement, and post-op from general surgery
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4 to 1 : 5
  • Shift is 12 hours, day shift, with weekend requirements based on unit needs
  • Limited titration of Heparin and Cardizem drips (up to 10mg / hr) required
  • RNs are responsible for telemetry monitoring and strip interpretation
  • Unit supported by charge RN and nurse aides with a 1 : 9 aide ratio; respiratory equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP
  • Epic EMR is used for all documentation
  • Floating to other units as needed
  • This is a newly opened department aiming for innovative patient care
  • Required to attend 2-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation
  • Scrub color is not specified; consult manager for dress code details
  • No call or standby required for this position
  • Holiday requirements may be discussed during the interview
  • Candidates who have worked for this health system within the past year (except through external agencies) are not eligible

    • Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required at the time of consideration
  • Current BLS certification from AHA required
  • Minimum 2 years total RN experience, with at least 1 year of acute care clinical experience
  • Experience with titrating Heparin and Cardizem drips required
  • Ability to interpret telemetry strips
  • Driver's license must be provided for consideration
  • Two professional references required : one from a supervisor within the past 12 months, and one from a peer or supervisor within the past 3 years
