Senior Product Designer, Browse / Search UX — New York City, United States
Lightspeed is seeking a Senior Product Designer to design intuitive merchandise search and catalog (Browse / Search UX) experiences within our fast expanding retail and wholesale network. This role will help transform how merchants, suppliers, and brands discover new products and customers using the NuORDER Catalog. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of transforming complex datasets into understandable, user-friendly interfaces across platforms, and excels in collaborative environments partnering with engineers and product managers to create exceptional customer experiences.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead high-level project work from a design perspective with autonomy and authority, facilitating design studios and working sessions to help the teams deliver the best possible solutions
- Leverage UX expertise and understanding of design systems, UI design, and how micro-interactions help users complete a task
- Turn nebulous concepts into specific ideas that are useful and delightful product features
- Design holistic systems, flows and interfaces that are simple, elegant, and user-friendly
- Understand how to best use the current design system to ensure consistency across platforms and contribute to its continuous improvement
- Draw insights from research and data, and turn those insights into tangible solutions
- Build relationships and advocate for the user when collaborating with cross-functional teams in product, engineering, and marketing. Oversee the UX from conception to launch
- Be a positive role model and culture carrier within the studio as well as an advocate for design within Lightspeed
What you need to bring
At least 5 years of practical, in-house product, UX / UI design experience. At least 3 years for an e-commerce or B2B facing brand, with multi-sided marketplacesApplied experience with service design practices and a practice of constantly evolving your design processApplied experience across digital and physical manifestations of design — from responsive web to native applicationsStrong aesthetic and conceptual skills to elevate the visual identity of our brandsExcellent communication and visualization skills; you can bring internal stakeholders on your design journey with focus and brevityUnderstanding of design systems, prototyping, and user research methodologiesPassion for sharing design strategies with fellow designers, product managers, and engineers to deliver better, more user-centered productsSelf-awareness and deep empathy for customers and team goalsCuriosity and ability to consider product strategy and vision — not just how it looks, but why we are designing somethingProficiency with design tools such as Figma, Google Suite, JIRA, and other prototyping toolsWhat’s in it for you?

At Lightspeed, compensation varies with skillset, qualifications, experience, and market data. The base salary for this position is expected to be in the range of $130,000 - $170,000 USD, depending on location. This role may be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. Benefits include medical, dental, wellness, life and disability insurance, 401K match, paid parental leave top-up, and paid time off.
Please note this salary information is for candidates hired to work in the United States and may vary by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on hours.
