Superior Rigging and Erecting is looking for a Rigging Engineer with a Professional Engineer (PE) license who thrives in high-stakes, technical environments. This role blends engineering design with field execution—you won’t just be behind a desk, you’ll be directly supporting crews on projects where every lift, every calculation, and every plan matters.

Key Responsibilities :
Engineering & Design
- Develop engineered lift plans, rigging drawings, and calculations for complex crane and rigging operations.
- Perform structural analysis of loads, rigging gear, and lift configurations to ensure safety and compliance.
- Stamp and approve rigging plans as the responsible engineer of record.
Field & Project Support
Collaborate with sales team, operational leaders, superintendents, and field crews to translate designs into safe, executable rigging solutions.Conduct site visits to assess conditions, validate lift feasibility, and troubleshoot technical challenges.Provide real-time engineering support during critical lifts.Safety & Compliance
Ensure all rigging plans comply with OSHA, ASME, ANSI, and other applicable codes and standards.Lead risk assessments for non-routine lifts or high-criticality operations.Champion a culture of safety and continuous improvement in lifting and rigging practices.Leadership & Training
Ultimately mentor junior engineers and rigging staff on engineering principles, rigging calculations, and best practices.Provide technical training to internal teams on rigging safety, equipment limitations, and lift planning.Future Opportunities
This position is designed to grow into a department leadership role. As our projects and client base expand, the Rigging Engineer will be expected to :
Build and lead a dedicated rigging engineering department.Hire, train, and manage multiple engineers and technical staff.Establish standardized processes, procedures, and design templates for rigging plans across the company.Serve as the company’s technical authority for all engineered rigging and lifting activities.Partner with executive leadership to align department growth with company strategy.This is an opportunity to not only execute challenging technical work today, but also to shape and lead the rigging engineering function for the future.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).Professional Engineer (PE) license in Georgia (or ability to obtain by reciprocity).2–5+ years of engineering experience in rigging, heavy lift, structural, or crane-related work.Strong working knowledge of cranes, rigging hardware, load charts, and engineered lift planning.Excellent communication skills with the ability to work hands-on with field teams.Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other engineering design / drafting software preferred.Compensation & Details
