Intern : DecSecOps – JR | Summer 2026 Start
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a DevSecOps Intern to be based in our Mt. Laurel office. This DevSecOps Engineer will work with a fast-paced team of mission-focused engineers to solve some of the Navy’s toughest challenges. Initiative, creativity, reliability, and efficient teamwork will be required to successfully deliver innovative solutions in this dynamic customer space.
Overview :
As a DevSecOps Intern at IDT, you will have the chance to work with cutting-edge tools and processes that ensure security, efficiency, and innovation in software development. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to building and improving our Secured Software Supply Chain (S3C) system. You’ll develop automation tools, support secure software deployment, and work on various security-related tasks across the DevSecOps lifecycle.
This internship provides the opportunity to expand your technical skills in development, security, and operations while playing a part in ensuring the security of mission-critical systems.

All applicants must be able to obtain / maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance.
Responsibilities Include :
Support security automation efforts, including static code analysis and security scanning for containers.Help integrate security checks into Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI / CD) pipelines to ensure secure software development.Collaborate with the team to enhance infrastructure security, including cloud and containerized environments.Participate in identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities in development environments.Work with internal teams to ensure compliance with relevant security standards and regulations.Contribute to the continuous improvement of DevSecOps practices and processes.What You’ll Gain :

Currently enrolled in and undergraduate or post graduate degree program with a major in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, data science, cyber security, mathematics, or aeronautical engineeringRequired skills :
Familiarity with programming languages like Python, JavaScript, or Shell scripting.Basic understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, podman) and virtualization environments (e.g., VMware).Interest in security concepts, automation, and CI / CD pipelines.Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn.Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team environment.Preferred skills :
Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Ansible, Puppet) and security testing tools (SAST, DAST).Familiarity with DevSecOps and CI / CD practices.Competencies :
