Job Title : Pathologist Assistant

Must-Have : Master of Science from NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant training program or equivalent

Description :

Under the direct supervision of a pathologist, the Pathologist's Assistant performs gross examination, description, and sectioning of surgical specimens.

The Pathologist's Assistant assists with or performs dissection and gross description of autopsies.

He / she must possess sufficient computer skills to accession specimens.

Additional laboratory-related computer skills are beneficial but not required.

The Pathologist's Assistant photographs specimens and maintains photography equipment.

He / she is responsible to the Laboratory Director of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

General duties include performing gross examination, description, and sectioning of surgical specimens, and assisting with dissection and gross description of autopsies.

The Pathologist's Assistant strives to deliver excellent customer service with a human touch.

They must maintain positive interactions with co-workers and develop a work environment conducive to career satisfaction.

Maintaining confidentiality as outlined in system policies is essential.

The Pathologist's Assistant identifies self-learning needs and seeks opportunities for improvement.

Participation in educational classes and maintenance of professional practice standards is expected.

Demonstrating principles of teamwork and acting as a resource and mentor to colleagues are crucial responsibilities.

The Pathologist's Assistant must demonstrate leadership abilities and sound management principles.

They will assist with performance evaluations and participate in the orientation / training of employees and students.

Compliance with applicable policies, standards of work, and the code of conduct is mandatory.

Other duties may be assigned based on organizational needs.
