Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med / Surg-Surgical Acute night shift position in Illinois, requiring an active IL RN license and BLS certification.
Responsibilities
Position is in the Surgical Acute Med / Surg unit within an acute care settingUnit has 63 beds with 49 private and 9 observation bedsPatient population includes post-op surgical, trauma, and overflow medical casesNurse to patient ratios are 4-5 : 1 on days and 5-6 : 1 on nightsCommon responsibilities include wound care, dressing changes, IV therapy, pain management, managing drains and NGs, and administering TPNHeparin is the only titratable drip; no vents used, but CPAP and high flow devices are managed by RNsSome patients are on telemetry monitored by Phillips equipment with central monitor techsUnit uses Epic EMR and offers a dedicated 12-hour orientation shift for EMR trainingShifts are 12 hours, nights (1930-0730); block scheduling may be considered by approvalRequired to work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)Travelers are first to float to similar level units2 preceptor shifts plus one 12-hour professional and Epic orientation shift providedCharge RNs are present and do not take patient assignments; 24 / 7 house supervisor on-sitePCTs assist with vitals, ADLs, and have defined patient ratios by shiftDress code allows for any color scrubsMust rotate every other holiday as part of the scheduleNo call or standby requirementTravelers do not self-scheduleNo COVID vaccine requirement for this positionLocal rate applies to clinicians residing within 50 milesRequirements
