Director, Engineering

Description

The Director, Engineering oversees and directs the day-to-day operations of the Engineering / Plant Operations, including facilities management, construction projects, equipment maintenance and upgrades. Ensures the operational reliability of the utility systems of the Hospital and its off-site locations. Ensures compliance with all Hospital, local, state, federal and regulatory agencies requirements related to facilities management and construction.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, with a minimum of seven to ten (7-10) years of experience, or five to seven (5-7) years of experience in the hospital setting.

OR

High school graduate with ten (10) years hospital engineering experience, at least five (5) of which were in a supervisory position, with a license in a related trade;

OR

High school graduate with twelve to fifteen (12-15) years of experience in multiple trades related to hospital engineering, being licensed in one of these trades

Knowledge of all applicable federal, state and local regulations in associated field.

Knowledge and understanding of all JCAHO Environment of Care Standards.

Basic knowledge of Engineering and Engineering principles to ensure proper work product from staff and contracted service / construction vendors.

Excellent interpersonal, time management and supervisory skills.

Proven ability to supervise staff, contract service and construction vendor activities.
