SSC provides world-class design, test, launch, and operational services for satellite and air systems, with a remote ground station in North Pole, Alaska that supports international satellite missions.

Your Mission

As a Field Engineer, you'll be responsible for operating, maintaining, and upgrading state-of-the-art satellite ground station systems. This is a highly dynamic role that blends fieldwork, troubleshooting, and mission-critical satellite support. You'll join a tight-knit, experienced team and receive on-the-job training to grow your expertise.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain satellite communications equipment and support systems
  • Perform routine service, testing, and preventive maintenance
  • Respond to real-time operations, including satellite launches and critical pass support
  • Troubleshoot and isolate faults in RF, IT, or mechanical systems
  • Assist with installing new systems and equipment
  • Maintain accurate logs and technical documentation
  • Perform general site and facility upkeep

Minimum Qualifications

  • Understanding of basic electricity and electronics
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents
  • Willingness to learn satellite ground station systems and procedures
  • Comfortable working at heights (up to 15 meters) and in all weather conditions
  • Flexibility to work night / weekend shifts and respond to call-outs within 2 hours
  • Safety-conscious and able to enforce safe work practices
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with RF systems, satellite communications, or teleport operations
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
  • IT / network troubleshooting experience
  • Amateur radio or related communications background
  • Relevant trade school, associate degree, or university qualification
